Rignana is in the middle of the
Chianti region, at 300/400 mt. of height between Panzano and Mercatale
Val di Pesa, it is located in a country uncontaminated area. Here
the civilisation, in the way we mean it, seems to be light years far away,
here the cars still try hard in not asphalt country roads.
The first historical accounts of
the Farm of Rignana are from the X century when it was mentioned as one
of the castles member of the Lega di Val di Greve ( The Greve valley League
). Later on Rignana was known as the last residence of Scipione dei
Ricci. He spent here the last years of his life after his excommunication,
then he was buried in the chapel of the villa where his tomb can be still
seen today.

La Cantinetta is located
inside one of the old buildings of the farm, once used as the warehouse
and as the residence for the labourers. Thanks to a clever and accurate
restoration it still maintains the charm and the atmosphere of the old
times. |
